Unbelievable crash
Apologies for not posting any infos/pics resulting from my planned THW visit yesterday.
It's obvious, that I couldn't keep that appointment.
Whilst waiting at the lights a Ford Focus pushed another Focus under (!) my VW's rear end and even the Audi in front of me was involved. No injuries though. Returned with the recovery truck (those hard-boiled chaps asked me to email them the pics for their homepage!) and waiting for the analysis of the surveyor. Not sure yet, if the engine is still ok.
The roofed bridge in the background by the way is the longest self-supporting wooden bridge in the world (Remseckbrücke, 80 m)! Pedestrians and cyclists only. The River Rems joins the River Neckar there.

Re: Unbelievable crash
Yeah, shit happens! Being first registered 19/10/89 it might had happened at or around the T3's 20th birthday ...
The causer didn't speed, as his airbag didn't release. No skid marks, he was just unobservant.
Good news from the surveyor's side. The vehicle is still roadworthy! The tow bar obviously acted as a skid and sustained. Just a few minor repairs necessary at the mo.

Re: Unbelievable crash
Any news on this yet Roland, are you using it again now?
Re: Unbelievable crash
Yes, after two days with a mate's Polo whilst waiting for the surveyor's analysis I'm using it again.
Front panel straightened, lower radiator grill replaced, front number plate straightened, tow bar socket replaced, rear bumper dismounted. That should do for the mo. The broken tail pipe is still missing but the cops didn't realise yet.
Unbelievable to have such a lucky escape
A damage of 8,000 Euros though, an economical write-off, hope to get a fair premium from the adversarial insurance.

Re: Unbelievable crash
Good job you have that towbar! You and your bus got off lightly. No tailpipe? That must be a bit loud Mine fell off in Wales whilst on holiday and was soooo loud. That's when i decided to go for the Stainless one.rolandrat wrote:Yes, after two days with a mate's Polo whilst waiting for the surveyor's analysis I'm using it again.

Re: Unbelievable crash
A good decision, as especially immaculate tail pipes tend to get lost due to a rotten flange.
My water boxer - which sounds a bit like a Porsche anyway - amazingly didn't became much louder, rather more Porsche like, ha,ha.
