Kathrein antenna

Post by custardbomb » Wed May 29, 2013 11:19 am

I have sourced the crook antenna, as per the attached photo with the following note from the seller which luckily I could collect when I visit Germany.

"Today we had a nice sunny day and had time so search the antenna and polish it for your foto
it is attached with 25m of RG213 at the moment

i am asking eUR 200,-- + shipping

By the way - it is the same antenna then descibed here
http://www.kats.thebughaus.co.uk/kats/v ... ?f=6&t=380"

This is great news, but is is worth €200? I then how to weigh this up against how rare I expect these are.

Thanks,

Lucky find! :) ()

The price is absolutely OK, I heard about such an antenna which was sold for the same price a couple of years ago.

Does it come with the essential adapter sleeve? :O

Good afternoon Roland,

Thanks for your help, from what you say I need to be purchasing this. Whats the adaptor sleeve you mention?

Thanks everyone, and yes photos will follow soon! I have emailed to ask if he has the adapter as it sounds as if this is rarer than the aerial! I'll keep you all posted :)

Yes, Roland I am :O

It looks lke he doesnt have the adaptor, but believes that in many cases these antennas would mount straight to the mast but I will work around this.

Were these aerials left fitted whilst driving or stowed, and if stowed was there a preset location for it?

Not in your case, you'll need the adapter I'm afraid. []<O

One wasn't allowed to drive with the mounted antenna, see plate 'Nicht mit montierter Antenne fahren'.

Sometimes lazy users bucked this order tho' and inventive ones even fitted an DIY antenna support to avoid its rotation whilst driving.

The stowing location provided is the front bench headrest rail, opposite cab side, there are two rubber straps.

Good afternoon Roland and thanks for the advice as I've always wondered where this was located as I don't recollect seeing the antenna stowing location shown depicted in the manual like most other accessories were.

I think the new holy grail to find is not the antenna, but the adaptor which I expect is very rare. Are there any search terms in German I could use to help find one?

Yes, the location ain't depicted but described. The 'handle' of the crook should be on the passenger's side BTW.

Search terms for the adapter are 'Adapter', 'Reduzierhülse' (= adapter sleeve) or 'Reduzierstück' (= reducer), the official name.

Use 'Krückstockantenne', 'Dipolantenne' or 'Breitbandantenne' for the KATHREIN.
