Freiwillige Feuerwehr Fellbach-Schmiden 125th anniversary
The Feuerwehr of our hometown Schmiden recently celebrated their 125th anniversary!
Quite a few EVWs showed up. Best one was the mint '64 Splitty of Fellbach Red Cross. Nearby their '95 T4
There's even a 1:87 BREKINA model of this particular vehicle
The '95 T4 together with a LT from Ulm
A similar group shot with Fellbach's '93 T4
Feuerwehr Fellbach's T4 multi purpose single cab. Did the cops jump off the load area?
Feuerwehr Stuttgart-Hofen's T5
Not to forget the row of fire engines
Old and new vehicles. Schmiden's classic Merc hails the guests
Darling of the public was this converted Courier. The Ford plum has been replaced by a fire fighter badge!
Don't think it's roadworthy and passed MOT tho'
Feuerwehr Waiblingen-Beinstein's Magirus
The local Fiat 500 club created this neat 600 Feuerwehr
Lots of other classic vehicles around; a further air cooled sample is this Eicher
Another vehicle of the local farm tractor and vintage car club, a Tempo 3-wheeler
Why this Hanomag/Weidner/Twingo road train?
Aha, they want to simulate a rural accident! Supervised by some Vigili del Fuoco sent by Fellbach's Lombard twin town Erba
Everything laid out ready
Action!
Roof is cut off, driver rescued. Anything else to cut?

Terrific pics Roland. It looks like a great day out.
I love the 3-wheeled Tempo - I didn't even know there was such a thing!!!

Many thanks for the great pics Roland. Are both those Red Cross vehicles normal people carriers ? The seats are evident in the '95 bus but not too sure about the '64 split bus. If it is indeed an ambulance, the fact that the windows are'nt "frosted" for privicy is interesting. Perhaps decommisioned krankenwagens converted to people carriers ?

Well spotted and good question Paul, both T4s and the Splitty are and weren't no ambulances per se, hence no frosted windows.
As one can additionally see from the radio call sign ID numbers '42' both T4s are a so-called 'Schnelleinsatzgruppenfahrzeug mit Behelfstrageneinrichtung (whew!) SEF-T' = rapid response team vehicle with improvised litters device. This means a minibus with eight seats at least and room for medical and other stuff, blue light(s) and sirens and a tow bar. The latter makes sense, Fellbach Red Cross e.g. has a signal, an equipment, a KatS, a field Spam dispenser and an accommodation trailer!
Furthermore a '97 T4 and an '05 T5 amongst other vehicles BTW.
The T1 acts as a historic vehicle but is still registered on their behalf . In contrast to the T4s it's 'just' a SEF, this means without the improvised litters device.
As for the Tempo, it was quite common in the 50s and 60s. I can remember the one in our village which belonged to a gardener. They were even joint venture built in India!

Thanks Roland, learnt something new, very interesting

Oh, one more question - the split bus has another "pipe" next to the exhaust pipe, any idea what that is ?

i love the fiat 500
Re: Freiwillige Feuerwehr Fellbach-Schmiden 125th anniversar
Easy, the 2nd pipe is the petrol heater exhaust.
Re: Freiwillige Feuerwehr Fellbach-Schmiden 125th anniversar
Cool ! None of our busses in ZA have those heaters - I've seen two units, but they were in imported European spec busses (a baywindow Westy and a Riviera campers)rolandrat wrote:Easy, the 2nd pipe is the petrol heater exhaust.
