FüKW TEL 80 Bus Register

Post by PhilC » Thu Jul 22, 2010 11:16 am

Total Built = 112, Built by VW in 1977, Converted by Brunn between delivery and 1980 when first registered. Used as on location command centre by the Katastrophenschutz (Disaster Control) for large incidents, natural disasters and of course in the event of a nuclear war.

These buses are easily distinguished from the earlier FuKW78 as the the TEL 80 has windows all round (albeit partly frosted) unlike the half panel 78 which had no rearmost windows and no rear window. The interior layout differs in that the TEL80 has no radio desk just a pair of bench seats, a fold down table and a large rear bulkhead cupboard unit.

Added to Brunn TEL 80 Register by Dubmatix 22/07/10.
Please feel free to post your bus onto the register with a few pics with as much build plate info as you wish. One post per bus please.

And another :
Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Hamburg-Bergedorf's technical service vehicle has been taken over from the KatS in 1995.

Therefore Rotkreuz Hamburg 60/98 has undergone an extraordinary fate. Externally original (apart from the chromed mirrors and hubcaps) but resprayed in white. :?

We live and learn!

Once stationed at Feuerwehr Weiden it continues its destination in being a mobile amateur radio station!

The mast ain't a HIRSCHMANN but a stronger one

Image

Note brackets for an additional mast; upper one fixed to the gutter and painted in RAL 2004 to preserve the van's original appearance as effectively as possible; lower one furthermore subserves as an ashtray ;)

Image

The huge city arms belong to its new hometown Aalen; Aal = eel. The eel on the arms is a canting symbol, as there are no eels far and wide. Known as the symbol for the city since 1385 though (I tend to wearing out heraldry ...)
