T4 DLRG Remshalden-Weinstadt

Post by rolandrat » Sun Feb 14, 2010 3:43 pm

Time to introduce a local hero:

my hometown's DLRG is connected with Remshalden nearby and was looking for a successor for their rotten Isuzu Trooper. They could acquire a decommissioned Bundesgrenzschutz T4 TDI Syncro crew carrier via right of preemption. Blue light bar and sirens were already existent, all it needed was some TLC and a respray. This was proudly carried out by my mates Micha and Piero. The signwriting and adding of daylight luminous foil was done by one Mr Janz, another chap I know quite well.

Note the personalised number plate: RW for Remshalden-Weinstadt and the numbers according to the radio call sign Pelikan (= pelican) Rems-Murr (= county name) 2/45-1. :)

Also note the police double mirrors composed of T4 wide bed pick-up truck and LT Mk I (!) parts.

The DLRG (Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft = German Life Saving Association) is comparable to the Royal Life Saving Society and the biggest voluntary water rescue (= Wasserrettung) association in the world. 560,000 members, 2,100 local groups.

Also involved in the KatS.
