The WULLE Bus

Post by rolandrat » Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:39 pm

A well-known appearance in the Stuttgart area is the WULLE Bus, a former T2a fire truck.

In 2008, after 37 years of absence, the oldest Stuttgart beer brand WULLE was revitalised.
Ceased in 1971, it was fair enough to choose a '71 panel van as a promotion vehicle to bridge to modern times. ;)

Acknowledgements to my mate Micha, who did the shots at a nice location i.e. amidst them Red Cross vehicles.

I like that it's kept some of the original bits on it. The roof rack is smart. That bumper is an odd thing! it has cranked ends! I wouldn't have noticed unless you had said though. Cheers for those Roland!

The original bits were one reason for me to post it. Even the mud flaps are still there.

The roof rack seems to be quite comfy as one can see from another pic.

The bumper theme was continued at the T2b; to mount it in a higher position the buffer underneath is simply missing ... :o

I was wondering how they managed to fit those lights in the bumper!! I wondered if they had made a special 'crash bump' with recesses for the lights! :D Now it makes sense!

I first saw that T2b bumper style on the Frankfurt white cab bus at Stanford Hall....it wasn't until i was looking at the pictures i started thinking...how can lights be mounted there?!

All explained! Cheers Roland! I will take a closer look at one of these next time i see one!

S WU 17 H recently visited us. :D

It has undergone some improvements.

As one can see the VW roundel has the correct colour now. Another detail is still wrong for the year ('71), a bigger deal. Any guess?

A correct square rear number plate has been ordered.

The roof rack theoreticly can carry TWO ladders BTW.

Hmmm...the detail that's incorrect...well can you use old 71 style number plates on older vehicles? (no Euro designation etc). Can't think what else is 'wrong'. /:)

You are right John, Euro plates are incorrect on older vehicles indeed. You can keep the old so-called DIN plates, if you register the car in the same administrative district. When it's registered in another one or the owner applies for H (= historic i.e. 30 years or older) plates, in contrast to the UK one has no choice. :( . It's not just a bigger deal, it's impossible. e:( In case of a H plate our minister of transport wants to abolish this regulation (whereas a H on the plate is still incorrect though ... :geek: )!

I meant another detail. The speculation goes on ... 6-[

A new addition to the WULLE fleet visited us today.

S WU 21 H is a '73 T2b panel van Type 21 F. F for Feuerwehr. No fog lights fitted in the bumper tho'.

Image

It was in private hands for a couple of years (note front spare wheel holder mounting holes) and has been recently kitted out inside the loading area to carry all the required stuff for events safely. No beer crates in there?

The tailgate might have been replaced by a FuKW 78 one!?
