Last Friday I spotted this Wasserwacht crew carrier at a garage in Karlstein ind. est. near Frankfurt.
The Wasserwacht (= waterwatch) is a water rescue association comparable to the Royal Life Saving Society, but in contrast to the DLRG (Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft = German Life Saving Association) it is connected with the German Red Cross.
The township of Kahl is located in Northwest Bavaria at the River Main. The city arms among other things shows a hare, it reminds of the citizens' nickname 'Sandhasen' i.e. sand hares and yes indeed, there are all sorts of bunnies around in the sandy soil.
WW-Kahl 14/1 is equipped with a tow bar to pull boat trailers and obviously was once stationed at county town Aschaffenburg judging by removed door inscriptions.
Currently it seems to have engine problems ...
