I was googling for photos of the mast brackets and was lucky enough to come across the following showing this antenna in situ;

All this discussion on the crook antenna got me thinking. I have an antenna for either van roof or mast mounting and was looking at making a bracket for the mast top....then i thought...how much extra effort would it be to make a "stand off" replica of the crook?. So whilst at B&Q I checked out the plasric pipe and fittings. 50mm drain pipe looks good, though there are no T-pieces so a bit of fabbing is in order. Bought a couple of pipe end fittings instead with the idea of merging them together to make the t-piece bit.
So yesterday i whacked the fittings in the lathe and cut them with a view to PVC welding them together back to back.

Pics to follow ;)

In addition to this, i found my prototype parts that allowed PVC pipe to be welded together to make a stand off replica of the crook. But, i now have access to a 3D printer and this got me thinking....hmmmm maybe i could print one in sections....pics to follow. I ran a test piece last night...
