Bundeswehr T3 Camper Conversion

Post by eiret25 » Tue Jan 28, 2014 11:51 pm

I imported my Kombi from Germany last year and Im in the process of converting it into a camper. I am currently at the stage where the insulation is finished, any bit of bodywork tided up and now in the middle of carpeting. Here it is.

This is the twin alternator set up. I presume they are both 12v?

I have as good as finished the lining and will soon be starting the interior units.

No, the 2nd one is 24 V to operate the 24 V radio equipment. :geek:

So you got a former radio car or Feldjäger (= MP) vehicle then!? Direct hit! :) ()

Thank you for the reply. So is the 24v any real use to me?? It was a funkbus, I bought it from a dealer in Koln, very happy with it!! I have a ferry booked for the start of June to hit Europe, cant wait to visit Germany and Poland again!!

No, you don't actually need it.

A Funkbus (= radio Bus) is always in good nick compared to bare and oppressed passenger Transporters.

In case you'll be in the Stuttgart area, give me a ring. PM for details.

Work has been slow the last while on account of the weather. While re installing the roof I managed to crack a few of these boys.

There are four in total holding up the front section. Any VW mind out there know where one might get hold of the same if not a stronger unit? Also came across a 4 core wire that came from the fuse box through the front drivers side pillar and the end rested in behind the panel near the roof. It wasnt connected to anything as it was sniped at either end. It was in the way and wanted rid of it. However a day may come where I may want to send cables back the same way so before I removed it, I attached twine to one end and pulled through leaving the twine behind so in the future I just need to attach the wires and pull through again. Picture not much use but said Id post it all the same:)
