Hello,
today I practiced my thoughts about a simple place to rest.
The premise -
Using the interior without damage ( or only very little ) and fast recovery.
Simple trick -
Two small metal braces between the seat boxes.
Both back upholsteryes are now removeable and fit in between the seats.
The headrest-pad ( now also removable) fills the gap at the backward two-seat.
After three trainings-sessions, good for me as a lazy guy...
... altogether making beds in less than 25 seconds.
For more luxary and the first long-therm test, I will put a soft thermo matt on it.
My first sleep result will only be posted here, if there wasn´t any collateral damage at body or baybus.
watch out, rebuild at your own risk.

bed time
Re: bed time
genius, suprised nobody thought of it sooner
Re: bed time
Excellent! And Pete, this is what i have been thinking about doing....even looking at alternative mounts for the demountable backrests (rather that undoing the screws all the time. We need to get this sorted for our Sctoland II - The Return (and completion!) trip! In fact it was supposed to be sorted for the first one! Oops!
There are some slide together metal mounts available from hardware shops that i have got for experimenting with this, they are opposing metal tangs that slide into each other. Just not quite got round to.
I hadn't considered using the headrest pads though. Nice one!!
Juergen, have you fitted alternative mounts for your backrests into their original position? I would be interested in seeing this and your brackets for ideas. I was thinking about making a small fold up wooden frame that sits in the middle that the two pads sit on. Or alternatively holes in which pegs/dowels could be fitted for fitting supports.
There were a couple of threads about this type of mod somewhere...I think the 'Scottish' TEL80 had some experimental wooden frame for this. I'll find the link...

Re: bed time
This is another way....Grant built this folding frame...
But i don't think it was for using the backrests, just some additional foam.
I prefer Juergens way with additonal foam cushions to throw in for longer trips! Even more comfort and carrying less heavy things!

Re: bed time
Hi Pete, hi John
thanks for the compliments.
And thank you for your link and pictures John. ...didn´t found this before.
Airbed would be a comfortable solution.
The idea of the removable headrest and its bracket frame was directly born on the first kilometers.
I wished that the driverseat gets more space in the back, if nobody is sitting on the second bench.
Nice that it even fits in the gap.
I also thought about a wooden frame for the bed. But a bit to massiv.
So i took one of the metal frames from the headrest. ( the other one is still there to hold the headrest )
For the second bracket I took a similar square metal tube.
Also important, nothing must be screwed. A kind of klick and sleep.

Now here some details of the construction and the fixing.
I hope the pictures are self-explanatory.
