EVWG Peak Run 2011Pics
A dreary start at the 9am meeting point. The buses were fuelled and ready to go and Craig Al and myself decided upon a suitable route and destination.
We headed west into Derbyshire along the A610 through the autumn colours onto the A6 for a short hop north. We then took the cross country route to Wirksworth past the solitary standing stone which was invisible in the fog. More twisting narrow roads as we climbed out of Wirksworth to the great views from harboro rocks. The fog however had other ideas! We couldn't even see harboro rocks! So we took refuge in Craigs van and got the kettle on!
the rocks are there honest!
After teas an coffees we hit the road and headed through the rolling hills to Hartington.
We parked up by Hartingtons village duck pond!
We were a bit early for pub lunch so went for a wander and ended up in the Village Hall.
We then headed to the local pub for a fireside lunch. This was most welcome after the chilly white out at harboro.
After lunch we headed back across to the buses which were drawing confused looks from passers by.
DC Tango led the return leg down the 515 via Ashbourne to Derby and then home.
The pub is the white building between the buses
Yet another enjoyable Peak run by the Notts/Derbys posse!
No wallabies though, maybe next year? I think Lud's Church and the Roaches are on the cards for 2012!

Despite or because of the fog your pics are very atmospheric!
I also like the nice TEL 80 combo. Two lookalike vehicles always attract attention.
I'm still wondering though, why Al is a bit of a wallaby?

Looks like a great day out , especially rubbing shoulders with the W.I. !!!
Re: EVWG Peak Run 2011Pics
some of the cakes did look tempting Pete though we managed to avoid buying any. yeah it was good to catch up and take the two TELs out for a spin. For some reason i had got it into my head that it was on the saturday...so i was outside in drizzle adjusting the valve clearances for an hour on friday night . Then Craig texted See you Sunday and i thought oops...or words to that effect. i thought the cloud pictures would be rubbish but i agree Roland it adds a bit of atmosphere to the scene i think.

I knew it was his round for coffees as when we walked up the counter he said..."Wallabee?"
