Last weekend saw the 1st 'Oldtimertreffen historischer Feuerwehrfahrzeuge' around the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
Lots of vehicles, some well-known from the Schorndorf show; in contrast to Schorndorf there were four VWs on the spot at least!
On the Sunday my mate Gunther and me attended it with his FuKW 78.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum was a nice location for that event
VW 1: a '73 1303 Beetle.Till 2000 it served as a KdoW = Kommandowagen = command car at Feuerwehr Notzingen. Note twin blue lights and BOSCH deluxe sirens
VW 2: a Beetle KdoW from the 50s of Feuerwehr Memmingen's museum branch. 30 h.p. A bit strange is the owner's name on the bonnet
VW 3: a '76 Type 2 which belongs to Feuerwehr Weilheim's museum branch. Like the similar one of Feuerwehr Lahr introduced in another thread it's also a former police vehicle (till 1992) with a mushroom pop top (WESTFALIA). Served at Feuerwehr Weilheim-Hepsisau till 2005
VW 4: our '77 KatS FuKW 78. Gunther acquired it in 2001. One might have met it at Vanfest 2003 and 2004. Out of the shed again after six years of storage!
Wearing a firefighter summer dress uniform was an appropriate addition
Mast envy; once again!
Our neighbour (how convenient!) was the well-known '65 Munga introduced in the Schorndorf thread. Till 1982 it served at Feuerwehr Schwäbisch Gmünd, went into private hands and could be bought back by the museum branch due to financial problems of the owner!
What a nice row! Refreshing amongst all them omnipresent red vehicles are the different colours
Feuerwehr Nürtingen's '79 Range Rover. A VRW = Vorausrüstwagen = immediate response vehicle. Decommissioned in 2002. Strange mirrors from a '70s Merc lorry
BARTH conversion. 3rd seat added. Note Beetle roof indicators
Unimogs!
A huge Zetros offroad fire truck (fair enough that they displayed a range of current Merc fire trucks next door).
Nearly forgot this nice Ford which once served at Bombeiros Voluntarios de Vila Real, Portugal

Re: Oldtimertreffen historischer Feuerwehrfahrzeuge Stuttgar
Cor! great pics and report Roland, looks like a good meet! Lots of variety there.
Mark, that's what that red F flag is for!!
That one had us puzzled whilst rifling through the kit on Mark's FuKW78...
That Superbeetle looks rather fetching in red and white with the twin blues.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Oldtimertreffen historischer Feuerwehrfahrzeuge Stuttgar
Thanks guys!
A cracking meet indeed!
The impressive museum even hosts a THW vehicle with all the equipment BTW (a Merc for sure).
The F-flag and not to forget the wooden F-arrows are marking a 'Fernmeldestelle' = mobile telecommunications centre. Not to mix up with the similar F-sticker for 'Feuerlöscher' = fire extinguisher.
OK, persuaded, Gunther's Bus will be our contribution for this year's EVW display! I agree, two FuKW 78s side by side would be cool and nice to compare. Hope we can tell you, how everything works.
