Tracing History - Where to start

The best place is the previous users of the vehicle. Even if you don't speak German, a polite email (with an apology for being written in English) will often be all you need to find someone who remembers your vehicle or knows someone that does.

Be persistent but not annoying! Don't overdo it but if you can find a few different contact points (different email addresses for example) you increase your chances of success.

Ask on the forum. If you are stuck, ask for advice!

Great advice, I've just visited my former Disaster VW Fire Station on two occassions now. First time in 2007 and last year (2016). I've now got contacts direct at the station which is really good - as I'd probably like to write a book in the future.

I'm particularly keen to hear about any stories relating to it's emergency response career - 1980-2004, before it was purchased by the trusty good ole Roland Knauss and brought to VANFEST 2004

Thanks Mark
